Inhibition by a-methyl-norvaline of valine and leucine uptake into protein in the chick embryo

چکیده
IN an earlier publication (Deuchar & Dryland, 1964) it was reported that a-methyl-norvaline, an amino acid described by Ross et al. (1961), whose structure resembles that of both valine and leucine (see below), caused a visible reduction in the quantity of haemoglobin formed by explants of the area vasculosa of the 48-hr, chick embryo, as compared with controls explanted without the analogue present.

متن کاملEffect of Adenosine Agonists on the Proliferation and Differentiation of Chick Embryo Fibroblasts in Three Dimensional Reconstituted Tissue Constructs
Previous studies indicate that organ fibroblasts play an important role in wound healing, collagen production, remodeling processes and pathogenesis of progressive heart, lung, renal and hepatic fibrotic diseases. Several studies suggest a possible inhibitory role for adenosine in the regulation of fibroblast proliferation. The effect of adenosine A2 agonists on proliferation and differentiatio...
متن کاملPrecursor directed biosynthesis of aureobasidins.
The antifungal antibiotic aureobasidin A (AbA) is a cyclic depsipeptide composed of eight amino acids and a hydroxy acid. New Ab analogs were produced by feeding various amino acids to Aureobasidium pullulans R 106 c-712 in a chemically-defined medium containing glucose and ammonium sulfate. The constituent amino acids of AbA at positions 3 (L-phenylalanine), 4 (N-methyl-L-phenylalanine), 5 (L-...
متن کاملEffect of a Leucine Analogue
A M I N O acid analogues have been observed to give rise to abnormal forms of development of chick and amphibian embryos (Herrmann, 1953; Rothfels, 1954; Waddington & Sirlin, 1954; Feldman & Waddington, 1955; Herrmann, RothfelsKonigsberg, & Curry, 1955). Assuming that these disturbances may be due to interference with the utilization of amino acids for protein formation, we have attempted an an...
متن کاملSpecificity of the effects of leucine and its metabolites on protein degradation in skeletal muscle.
The effects of leucine, its metabolites, and the 2-oxo acids of valine and isoleucine on protein synthesis and degradation in incubated limb muscles of immature and adult rats were tested. Leucine stimulated protein synthesis but did not reduce proteolysis when leucine transamination was inhibited. 4-Methyl-2-oxopentanoate at concentrations as low as 0.25 mM inhibited protein degradation but di...
